The head of the French cybersecurity agency ANSSI explained there would not be a complete ban on using machines from Huawei in the rollout of the French 5G telecoms community, but that it was pushing French telcos to stay clear of switching to the Chinese business.
“What I can say is that there will never be a complete ban,” Guillaume Poupard informed Les Echos newspaper in an interview.
“(But) for operators that are not at present using Huawei, we are inciting them not to go for it.”
The US authorities has urged its allies to exclude the Chinese telecoms large from the West’s next-era communications, saying Beijing could use it for spying.
Huawei has denied the costs.
