Peugeot ready to adjust Huawei partnership if US demands – Strategy – Telco/ISP
Peugeot main government Carlos Tavares claimed on Tuesday the French carmaker would regulate its partnership with China’s Huawei if authorities in the US make it a precondition for approving a merger with Fiat Chrysler.
Peugeot requirements the consent of US authorities to entire a US$50 billion merger with Fiat Chrysler at a time when Washington is urging its European allies to exclude Huawei from the continent’s telecoms infrastructure.
“We have a partnership with Huawei, which is linked with a different partnership with French telecom business Orange, we are not in direct romance with them. But of class on this matter, we will listen to the American authorities and of class we will follow all their directions”, Tavares advised a convention contact on Tuesday.
“If there was any question or any guidance from the American authorities, we would be keen to follow them”, Tavares claimed.
So much, France has ruled out discriminating from Huawei as a vendor for the country’s 5G networks.
Peugeot in 2017 partnered with Huawei to build a cloud-based mostly connected car procedure which has been deployed on 6 million cars in Europe and China.
